we the mods...
want to create a community where dedicated members can come together to interact and unleash their creativity on a regular basis. set in washington d.c., vote's members have the potential to create fun and complex characters with no limitations. whether you enjoy playing the atypical civilian living in a city that offers the writer so much to work with, or a politician with faux aspects of celebrity and scandal, we hope that you can bring your characters to life here! this is not a politically driven and/or based community.


application process
face claims will be first come, first served when applying as long as the applicant has a friends only post for in character member interaction, AND a contact post with information regarding their character. we won't require a full blown biography, but we do expect their name, age & date of birth, hometown, occupation, and at least one small paragraph with some background information. this helps us avoid people who will apply to claim a face and die on arrival before they even create their character.

USERNAMES: when applying, please have an out of character username with no underscores. you may have up to one number within your username.

EXAMPLES: we do require at least two examples when you apply. these can be in the form of written updates, narratives, or scenes. while we allow creative expression when it comes to updates here, we do want to see some examples of your writing.


it's just a game
roleplaying has been around for decades, and while we hope that everyone is familiar with the basic rules, we will ask that you please keep in mind that this is, in fact, just a game. we're all here for one reason or another, and none of us want to deal with extra stressors while participating in something that is supposed to be a hobby. please keep ic and ooc separate at all times, and report any incidents you find concerning to the mods right away.

INTOLERANCE: although we are a community set in washington d.c. and characters may be affiliated/portraying politicians, we will not allow any of our members to show intolerance or bully any marginalized groups. while we understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and that intolerant people do exist, no you may not join as a neo-nazi just for the trolls. if you notice something that you feel violates this rule or makes you uncomfortable, please alert us right away.


activity
INTRODUCTIONS: members will have 72 hours after adds to post their introduction to policy. we ask that you reply to comments within a timely manner. users who do not post their introduction within 72 hours, or do not reply to comments, are subject for removal. if you require an extension for your introduction, please comment our members post so we do not remove you. if you are added after the 15th of each month, your intro will count as half of your activity requirements.

ACTIVITY: we will require AT LEAST two updates per month, both of which are interactive. we encourage writers to update as often as they'd like, but also understand that life can sometimes become hectic. we are not putting a word limit on updates as long as they show effort, and you are actively engaging with those members who comment your posts. to keep the friends page moving, we ask members to try and stagger their updates evenly throughout the month.

MESSENGERS: messengers are currently optional, meaning they may be used at each members' discretion. the most commonly used are wire and discord, but feel free to list any other methods of contact in your contact post.

INACTIVITY: members may be viewed as inactive if their friends list is more then TWO WEEKS out of date, or they haven't replied to the comments on their most recent interactive post.

OVERRIDES: overrides will be allowed ONLY if a member has not kept their friends list updated, has cleaned out their journal, or has not responded to the comments on their last interactive post. for example, if jon doe has updated once with an interactive post, and it's the 28th of the month, he MAY NOT be overridden as our members are allowed to make their posts at any time during the month.

REMOVALS & LEAVES: removals will only be done at the end of the month, and members will only be removed if they fail to follow the rules set by the mods above. hiatuses and extensions will be granted, as long as they are for reasonable time frames. members are not required to disclose information regarding why they need these leaves of absence, but of course we are always here to help!

as previously stated, we are looking for dedicated members that are interested in coming together and actively participating in a community setting, which means interacting with other members. if something occurs and you are unable to do so, please reach out to a mod so we can make sure not to mark you as inactive by mistake. if you have any questions, please contact us as soon as possible.


misc
CREDITS: we do allow faux elements here, which includes political credits, but we will be limiting the level of polictician that may be portrayed. we are currently asking that you do not claim credits of any politician who is above a state senator or congressman. this will help us avoid confusion and complexity in trying to keep the politics of the community straight with that of real life. if you are applying with the credits of a specific politician, we won't require to keep their same age and/or gender, but we do ask that you keep their party alignment.

REJECTION: we reserve the right to reject anyone we do not feel would be a good fit for our community. if your application was rejected, please respect our decision. if something was missed during the application process, we will make you aware.
